3-5 June 2009 exhibition "Blurring the Lines"

In cooperation with the German section of Reporters Without Borders, the exhibition of photographs entitled "Blurring the Lines" will be on display in the Rhine Lobby of the World Conference Center Bonn during the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum 2009.

The exhibition includes eight series by renowned photographers focussing on eastern Europe and Central Asia, capturing elements of social upheaval in states formerly part of the Soviet Union. In places like Belarus, Kazakhstan, Georgia/Abkhazia, Chechnya, Russia and Ukraine they document moments when the old is confronted with or juxtaposed upon the new. Viewers are confronted with the dramatic changes that occurred and are still unfolding throughout these countries, their far-reaching political and personal consequences and the often precarious circumstances of press freedom and freedom of opinion.
