Rias Workshop on German/American coverage of terrorism issues - a transatlantic media comparison

German and American journalists will discuss how tv and the electronic media covers the issues of terrorism. What are the differences, what are the similarities? Has anything changed since Sept. 11, 2001, when a shocked US asked "why do they hate us so much?" and the US media promised to provide more background information on the roots and causes for terrorism? Is the German media doing enough to live up to the challenges of analysing the reasons for this new global threat? What can the media do at home and abroad to fight terrorism and a looming global division along religious lines?
