I am the current Executive Director of Nairobi Peace Initiative-Africa (NPI-Africa) a peace resource organisation where I have worked since 1993. Before joining NPI-Africa in 1993, I served with a number of nongovernmental, church-affiliated humanitarian agencies working in the areas of development and refugees in East Africa, Great Lakes Region, Horn of Africa, and the Indian Ocean Islands. I have extensive experience in the areas of training and facilitation of groups in conflict transformation and peacebuilding in numerous countries in Africa and Europe. I have also offered courses in Peacebuilding Institutes in Africa and Europe and more recently mediation training for officials in the African Union. My special interest and bias is working with women to enhance their capacities to contribute towards peace. A recent engagement was co-facilitating forums that saw Kenyan women participate in the formal peace negotiations in Kenya following the post-election crisis by having audience and presenting views to the mediators of the process. I am the team leader for the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict/People Building Peace process at NPI-Africa the Regional Initiator for Eastern and Central Africa for the Global Partnership. My background is in communication and conflict transformation and peacebuilding from Universities in Africa and USA.
