Panel: "Citizen Journalism & Freedom of Speech"

Thomas Jefferson once said that "every citizen should be a soldier." But if Jefferson were alive today, he would most likely proclaim that every citizen should be a blogger. "Citizen Journalism & Freedom of Speech" will discuss the continued explosion of blogging around the world and the expanding role of citizen journalism (CJ) in the global media landscape. The panel will be made up of an international group of bloggers from the front lines of the CJ movement who were recently awarded for their work at the 2008 Deutsche Welle International Blog Awards. Known as "The BOBs", the annual awards recognize outstanding bloggers who utilize the Internet to inspire and inform their fellow citizens and thereby the rest of the world.
