Hans W. Odenthal
Hans W. Odenthal (*1947) is a graduate of GAF General Staff Course 25 (1982) and of Senior Course 89 of the Nato Defense College (1996).
He served as Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff, GE Armed Forces Staff, and the Commander of Allied Air Forces Central Europe, as Foreign Affairs Fellow at the International Institute for Security Studies, London; as Deputy Military Advisor to the High Representative in Bosnia Herzegovina with parallel duties as Chief of the Politico-Military/ Defense Reforms Section at the OSCE Mission in Sarajevo.
His appointments also included project management tasks like those as the GE project officer for the build-up of the US-GE George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Director of its Research and Conference Center, as Faculty Advisor at the Nato Defense College, Rome, and as Director Studies of the Federal Academy for Security Studies, Bonn.
Hans Odenthal retired from active duty in 2007 as Deputy/Acting Commander and Chief of Staff of the Federal Armed Forces Academy for Information and Communication. But he is still active in networks striving to foster understanding and efforts for common security and prosperity. Therefore, he has agreed in 2008 to accept a role as board member and project co-ordinator of the Märkisches Institut für Technologie and Innovationsförderung e.V.
