Don Hinrichsen

Writer and Journalist

Don Hinrichsen is an award winning writer and former journalist, based in Europe and the U.S. For the past 15 years he has worked as a writer, editor, multi-media adviser and fund raiser for UN agencies and NGOs. He is currently the Senior Development Manager for IWPR, based in London.

Don has written five books over the past decade on topics ranging from coastal resource conflicts to an Atlas of the Environment.

Mr. Hinrichsen was former Editor in Chief of Ambio, the journal of the human environment published by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, and the first Editor in Chief of the World Resources Report published by the World Resources Institute, the World Bank, UNEP and UNDP. He has written 1,000 magazine and newspaper articles over a 20 year career as a foreign correspondent for U.S. and European publications. During the last 15 years he has specialized in issues surrounding environment, population, development and resource conflicts. He has a keen interest in and commitment to environment, population, sustainable development and freedom of expression issues.
