Daniel Wermus

Executive Director, Media21

 

 

Born in Geneva in 1951, international journalist and founder of InfoSud, a non profit Press Agency since 1988. InfoSud, a multi-cultural network of journalists, has published 15,000 articles on North-South issues. Degree from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva in 1973. Reporter with the Tribune de Genève (1976-88), freelance collaborator with Swiss television (TSR/1978-84).

Numerous reporting in Latin America, Africa and Asia about social, environmental, development and other global issues.

Daniel Wermus launched Media21 Global Journalism Network Geneva in 2006. Media21 has conducted 20 workshops and 10 field trips on global issues (climate change, human rights, peace, humanitarian aid, health, food, water, corporate social responsibility, etc) bringing together 310 journalists from 85 countries with 400 international actors representing UN, NGOs, business and universities.

His works include:

  • Madre Tierra, pour une Renaissance amérindienne, Collection Clés, Paris, Albin Michel, 2002 (a book on indigenous cultural recovery in Central America). Preface by Yves Coppens.
