As the conference facilities used to host the German Parliament, it has special historical significance and is therefore a protected building. Eating, drinking, smoking, and the use of mobile phones is therefore not permitted within the plenary and conference rooms and halls. You can find ash trays in the main lobby.

Visas / Immigration
Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum participants are responsible for ensuring that their passports are valid for at least 3 months beyond the date of the conference, and that visa requirements are met. To check whether you require a visa to enter Germany, please refer to your local German consulate/embassy or click here to find more information.

Customs
The following goods may be imported into the Federal Republic of Germany without incurring customs duty by visitors arriving from countries outside the EU: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco; 1l of spirits with an alcohol content exceeding 22 per cent by volume or 2l of spirits or liqueurs with an alcohol content not exceeding 22 per cent by volume or 2l of sparkling or liqueur wine; 2l of any other wine; 50g of perfume or 250ml of eau de toilette; 500g of coffee or 200g of coffee extracts; personal goods to the value of €175.00. Airports*

The nearest airport is the Cologne-Bonn airport (CGN)
Distance: 35 km
Airport shuttle bus line SB 60 (tickets available in bus), runs between the airport and Bonn central station every 20-30 minutes on weekdays, and at half-hourly or hourly intervals on weekends.
Journey time: approx. 40 minutes
Departure: Terminal 2 / ground level / D

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)
Distance: 85 km
The Sky Train takes passengers from all terminals to the airport railway station. From there trains run to Bonn central station.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
Distance: 170 km
The railway station is located at the AIRail Terminal, right next to Terminal 1. The station is also linked to Terminal 2 via buses and the Sky Line. From there trains run to Bonn central station or Bonn-Siegburg. From Bonn-Siegburg please take line 66 to Bonn central station.

Public Transport*
Arriving at Bonn central station take tram / underground lines 16, 63, 66 in direction "Bundesviertel" (Bad Honnef or Bad Godesberg). Alight at the Heussallee / Museumsmeile stop or take a bus line 610/611. Alight at the Deutsche Welle stop and follow the signs to the Bundeshaus. For further details please have a look on the maps. Please note: During the conference (3 - 5 June 2009), your accreditation badge will also be your ticket for the public transport system in the cities of Bonn and Siegburg. 

Taxi Service
Taxis are available at airports, central railway stations and in front of the congress center. Taxis can be phoned for +49 228 55 55 55. It is not recommended to take taxis from Frankfurt and Düsseldorf Airport to Bonn.

Car Parking
Only a few parking lots can be found within the residential area surrounding the conference facility. Please use public transport.

Medical Services
Medical services will be available on-site on an emergency basis only. Please contact the Information Desk in case of emergency. In cases of emergency outside the conference center please call the ambulance on 112 (free call). A private medical insurance is strongly recommended, as all expenses for medical care will be the responsibility of the patient. All German pharmacies (Apotheke) give alternative addresses of services available outside the normal opening hours (10:00 - 18:00 local time on weekdays)

Cloak and Luggage room
Luggage and coats can be left on-site at the cloak and baggage room at the entrance

For non-mobile phone users, public payphones are located in the main lobby. For calls from abroad: The country code of Germany is +49.

Bank Service
The currency of Germany is Euro (€) Cash machines are located in the city center and at the airports. Credit cards are widely accepted by department stores, taxis, and restaurants. Currency exchange facilities are available at Cologne-Bonn Airport, Terminal 1, Departure level, opposite to Germanwings (Reisebank, open daily from 07:00 - 20:00) and at Bonn Central Station opposite to Ticket Sales (Reisebank, open Monday to Friday 09:00 - 19:00, Saturday 09:00 - 15:00). http://www.reisebank.de/
